Anhydrous

Like the name implies, there’s no water in these intensely conditioning scrubs, only butters, waxes and oils along with an exfoliate. These scrubs work on the heaviest calluses, but leave an oily residue, so aren’t recommended for use in the shower or tub.

Emulsified

Emulsified scrubs are more stable than anhydrous scrubs, and come in a variety of forms. Cream based scrubs can be formulated for use on sensitive skin, and soap based scrubs not only exfoliate, but can scrub away tough dirt and stains left on the skin from arduous activities.
